How Storyling works

  1. Bring your vocabulary. Paste any word list, import from your studies, or let the AI suggest words for your level (A1–C1).
  2. Get a story made for you. In about five minutes, Storyling weaves your words into an original story in your target language — choose from 12+ genres and listen as a podcast or watch as a film with native-quality audio.
  3. Make it stick. Built-in quizzes and a spaced repetition system schedule reviews at the optimal moment, so words you struggle with come back more often and mastered words fade into long-term memory.

Why stories work when drills don't

Most language apps teach through gamified drills and isolated sentences — great for streaks, poor for fluency. Storyling is built on a different principle: you acquire a language by understanding messages you actually care about. Stories create emotional connections and context, which is why you can remember the plot of a film from years ago but not the flashcards you drilled last week. This is especially powerful for intermediate learners stuck on the plateau where drill apps stop helping.

Languages

Storyling supports 19 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Russian, with new languages added regularly.

Built by a learner who lived both sides

Storyling was founded by LeeNor Dikel, who spent seven years in French classes without reaching conversational fluency — then taught herself Chinese to fluency in a single year through immersion in stories and content she loved. Storyling exists to give every learner that second experience without having to build it themselves.
